Beer Potatoes "au gratin"

Bierkartoffeln-Gratin
Ingredients, serves four

  • 2 kilos potatoes
  • 150 g cubed bacon
  • 150 g cubed onions
  • 150 g finely chopped leek
  • some garlic
  • 0.3 l Fohrenburger wheat beer
  • 0,4 l cream
  • 4 eggs
  • salt
  • pepper
  • nutmeg
  • caraway seeds
  • breadcrumbs
  • butter flakes

How to prepare it:

Slice the peeled potatoes. Fry the cubed bacon in a pan, add the onions until they are transparent. Mix the Fohrenburger wheat beer with the cream and eggs. Put the bacon-onion mixture in a big bowl together with the potatoes. Then add the leek as well as the egg mixture, season and mix well. Put everything into a buttered oven dish and cover with breadcrumbs. Distribute the butter flakes well and bake in the oven at 165 degrees C for approx. 1 hour.
